Superb gilt and silver-plated brass tabernacle door, of Italian origin, from a former convent. This rare piece, dating from the first half of the 20th century, is a precious testament to Christian liturgical art and Italian religious craftsmanship.
Detailed Description:
Richly decorated front: Adorned with a symbolic scene in relief: a central fountain from which the water of life flows, surrounded by two deer and two birds quenching their thirst – a classic motif of Christian iconography, symbolizing the soul in search of God. In the background, the chrism (XP), the ancient monogram of Christ. At the bottom, the Latin inscription: “FONS VITAE ET SANCTITATIS” (“Source of life and holiness”).
Interior: Entirely polished brass, engraved with the radiant monogram “IHS” (name of Jesus), framed by two hands presenting the host, and the inscription: “MANDUCATE EX HOC OMNES” (“Take and eat of it, all of you”).
Frame: Completely solid brass structure, with original, functioning hinges. The whole is in very good structural condition.

The key is missing and the locking system is blocked.
