Asian measuring cup/pot made of lacquered wood with metal rim – Asia – 19th century
Antique Asian measuring pot made of lacquered wood with metal hoops, dating from the 19th century.
This container was used to measure grains, rice, or cereals in a domestic or artisanal setting.
It is handcrafted from thick solid wood, with metal hoops and a ring on the side for hanging or handling. The red and black patina, as well as the wear on the inside, are evidence of authentic historical use.
An old restoration is visible at the bottom, carried out to extend the life of the object. It is stable, well integrated, and consistent with the age of the piece.
