Funerary figurine in frit, Egyptian goddess Bastet, Late Period

Ancient zoomorphic figurine in the shape of a cat representing the goddess Bastet, a funerary statuette used to accompany the deceased into the water beyond. Bastet is represented as a seated cat, leaning on her hind legs with erect ears. Goddess of fertility, music and dance, Bastet was considered by the Egyptians to be the protector of pregnant women, childbirth and newborns.
The small statuette was made in blue-green glazed frit, a ceramic material very common in ancient Egypt, which gave rise to the famous "Egyptian blue". It probably dates from the Late Period.
In its original juice, with traces of age and wear.
