Large Moustiers earthenware dish, after Tempesta, bear hunt, 19th century
Moustiers earthenware after Antoine Tempesta (1555-1630) depicting a bear hunting scene. Beautiful large circular dish bordered by a projecting molding. Decor painted in blue monochrome: on the margin, four reserves representing game and hunting dogs, alternating with griffins and arabesque masks. On the center, a hunting scene with three hunters, two of whom are riders, and a forest landscape; in the foreground, three bears and dogs.
Signature on reverse. This is probably an old re-edition of a plate dating from the 17th/18th century.
