Lion of Saint Mark, winged lion of Venice, statuette in patinated gilt bronze, 19th century

Antique statuette or paperweight in gilded patina bronze representing the lion of Saint Mark. It represents the evangelist Mark and is the symbol of the city of Venice in Italy.
The lion is depicted on a pedestal, walking sideways, its front paws resting on the open book, where part of the quotation "Pax tibi Marce, evangelista meus. Hic requiescet corpus tuum".
Good condition, in its original condition with traces of age and wear.
