Totem tiki polynésien en bois fait main, Hawaï

Handmade wooden Polynesian tiki totem, Hawaii, Oceanian Art, mid-20th century

Old wooden tiki in the shape of a totem. Rather simple style with menacing gaze, flat nose, and open mouths showing two central teeth on each jaw. This style of tiki is close to the traditional Hawaiian style.

In the Pacific Islands, the tiki represents the first man on earth.

This object reflects craftsmanship and undoubtedly has a well-defined use. The transverse rod and the scraper inside the mouth perhaps suggest a use as a musical instrument... The notch on the top of the totem also lends itself to questioning its use as a key or lever. In the end, there is little certainty about the function of the object.

Good condition, in its original condition with traces of age and wear.

This is a vintage object that can complete a cabinet of curiosities or a collection of Oceanian Art that will stylize your interior decoration.
