Funerary amulet in frit eye of Horus or oudjat eye, Late Period

Ancient amulet representing the eye of the god Horus or the oudjat eye, it is a funerary amulet which was used to accompany the deceased in the afterlife. The wedjat is a symbol of protection in Egyptian antiquity. The amulet represents the eye formed by the pupil, the eyebrow, the tear and the spots of the falcon. It is pierced with holes allowing the passage of a link.

The small statuette was made of blue-green enameled frit, a ceramic material very common in ancient Egypt, which also gave birth to the famous “Egyptian blue”. Its dating is probably in the Late Period.

In its original condition with traces of age and wear.

Green-blue color.

Very old piece of archeology, unique and unusual in the spirit of cabinets of curiosities. Rare collector's item.
