19th-century reliquary – 11 relics of martyrs – ex ossibus – Paperolles
Rare 19th-century Catholic reliquary, probably Italian, displayed under glass in a rich setting of quillwork and gilded filigree, contained in a large carved gilded wooden frame.
The piece contains 11 first-class relics (ex ossibus, bone fragments), carefully arranged and identified by their handwritten Latin cartouches.
In the center is the main relic of Saint Patience, martyr, surrounded by ten other martyred saints.
