An ancient traditional Batak medicinal box, hand-carved from bone and decorated with tribal motifs and an anthropomorphic figure on the cap. This type of box was used by Batak shamans (datu) to store medicinal or ritual preparations, notably pangir (a mixture of medicinal plants).
