Silver damascened cane with Rakshasa Indian demon head knob, 19th century

Old wooden cane with silver damask decor. Wooden shaft and metal ferrule at the lower end of the rod.

Hindu mythology inspired the decor theme. Indeed, the bone pommel represents a demon head called Rakshasa. The English settlers present in India until the beginning of the 20th century hijacked the local culture in order to exercise their power and impress the native staff. 
This is a refined and elegant accessory of the 19th century bourgeois men's la mode_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d.

Pommel and was in good condition, in its own juice.
