Collier en dents de chien, Papouasie Nouvelle-Guinée

Dogtooth necklace, Papua New Guinea, mid-20th century

An ancient ornamental necklace composed of dog teeth in a tight row, knotted together with plant fibers to form an oval necklace. The teeth are sandwiched between beads, probably made from seeds.

In its original juice, with traces of age and wear, the vegetable fiber rope shows a repair visible on the photos.

This is an authentic ethnic object that could complete a cabinet of curiosities or an Oceanic Art collection.
