Indo-Pakistani decorative bone and horn dagger, dog head pommel, 1950
Very beautiful decorative dagger with a pommel and scabbard made of bone and horn inlay. It features glass and silver accents, making it a richly decorated object in a folkloric style, probably originating from North India or Pakistan. The pommel depicts a dog's or wolf's head, with sulphide eyes, visible fangs, and a panting tongue.
A screw system reveals a dagger of very high quality.
The bottom of the scabbard is decorated with leather cords.
This is a parade or decorative dagger, with no military use.
An exotic curiosity, probably intended for the tourist or collector market, typical of post-colonial artisanal export productions.
