Dagger of virtue or ball pricker, 19th century

Dagger of virtue or ball pricker, 19th century

Old knife called a virtue dagger, or a ball-pecker. Ebony handle, iron blade, black leather sheath.

In the 19th century, prostitutes hid them under their skirts and used them to defend themselves against aggressive "clients",

by pricking them in the crotch (hence the name "ball-pecker").

Good condition, in its original condition with traces of age and wear.

This is an old one that can complete a collection of knives, or simply delight a savvy collector.
