19th century Masonic dagger – Memento Mori – Engraved – With sheath
19th-century Masonic dagger, probably of French or Anglo-Saxon origin, typical of ritual objects used in certain initiation degrees. The steel blade is finely engraved with the inscription MEMENTO MORI, a skull and crossbones, columns, scales, plant motifs, and other symbolic emblems characteristic of Masonic daggers produced between 1850 and 1900.
The blackened, faceted wooden handle and spherical pommel guard are typical of European Masonic productions of this period. The textured leather sheath is original.
Important note regarding the photos:
The last two photos in the listing have been modified to improve the visibility of the engravings.
They allow the symbols to be seen more clearly, but do not accurately represent the actual appearance of the blade.
Some symbols are missing from the modification.
All other photos are natural and unretouched.
