Inro à 3 cases en laque rouge, Japon 1900 - pilulier japonais ancien

3-frame red lacquer inro, Japan 1900

Antique Japanese inro with three compartments, made of red lacquer on wood, green cord, and an orange ojime bead, probably made of amber.

In its original condition, with traces of age and wear.

An inrō is a small Japanese box, traditionally used during the Edo period (1603-1868) and the early 20th century, to carry precious objects such as seals, medicines, or herbs. These boxes were often worn by men, attached to the belt of a kimono (obi), as traditional Japanese clothing had no pockets.

A fine collectible for lovers of Asian art.
