African racing mask zapkei DAN kauris and bells, Ivory Coast, 1900

Old mask of the DAN ethnic group of Ivory Coast. This type of elongated mask called "zapkei" with a pointed shape and round eyes is used during races between several people. Composition patinated wood, headdress made of kauri shells and beard made of metal bells. Hook on the back for wall hanging.


In its original condition with traces of age and wear.
