Military handkerchief, 1911, Italo-Turkish War, Tripolitania, Colonial Italy

A rare Italian military and colonial handkerchief, dating from the Italo-Turkish War (1911-1912), depicting the conquest of Tripolitania (Libya) by Italian forces.

The scene shows an allegorical female figure representing Civilization, guiding Italian soldiers as they land, beneath the tricolor flag.

In the background, the Italian fleet approaches the Libyan coast, while to the left, Eastern fighters flee the advancing troops.

The inscription "TRIPOLITAINA" appears at the bottom of the composition, and "CIVILIZATION" radiates above the torch.
