Necessary, gentleman's writing set – 19th century – complete with its box
Superb gentleman's writing set, probably dating from the late 19th century (Napoleon III period), complete in its original box.
The box is covered in black leather, monogrammed “E. P.” on the lid, and lined inside with red satin and garnet velvet.
All the accessories are made of bronze, beautifully crafted, with a stunning antique patina.
This type of box accompanied men of letters and notables on their travels or on their desks, containing everything they needed to write, seal and correspond.

A cut crystal inkwell with a bronze mount and hinged lid.
