Pair of 19th Century Portraits – Two Twin Sisters – Pastel on Paper
RARE Pair of 19th Century Portraits – Two Twin Sisters – Pastel on Paper – Oval Frame – 66.5 x 54 cm
A very fine pair of original 19th century portraits depicting two young girls with similar features, probably twin sisters. Painted in dry pastel on paper, these portraits offer great finesse in the rendering of expressions, hair, and fabrics. The style and technique suggest a late 19th century creation, in the tradition of romantic bourgeois portraiture.
Each work is mounted in an original oval-shaped cardboard mat, unframed.
