Chinese Hard Stone (Marble/Alabaster) Carved Tray – Dragons.
Antique Chinese Hardstone Tray (Marble/Alabaster) Carved – Dragons – Early 20th Century
Superb antique rectangular tray in translucent hardstone (likely white marble or alabaster imitating jade), finely hand-carved.
The openwork decoration depicts powerful Chinese dragons, symbols of strength and prosperity, surrounding a smooth rectangular central panel. The tray rests on four small, sculpted feet, giving it a beautiful stability.
In the light, the stone reveals a highly aesthetic natural transparency, typical of the fine marbles/alphasters used in Asian craftsmanship.
