Asian wooden measuring pot with metal rim – China – 19th century
Antique Asian measuring pot made of solid wood, with a wrought iron band, dating from the 19th century.
This type of container was used for measuring grains, rice, or cereals, in both domestic and commercial settings.
It is entirely handcrafted, made of thick wood, with studded bands and a side ring for handling or hanging. The upper band features a hammered decoration characteristic of Chinese utilitarian objects from this period. The overall patina testifies to its authentic historical use.
