Italian religious reliquary – Filigree and lace silver cross – 19th century
Rare 19th-century Italian religious reliquary, presented under glass in a gilded frame, signed on the back by Bolzani, Milano (Corso Matteotti), renowned for its frames and devotional objects.
In the center is a finely crafted filigree silver cross, typical of 19th-century Italian religious goldsmithing. It is mounted on satin and surrounded by sumptuous needle lace of remarkable finesse, probably of Venetian tradition.
This reliquary was intended for private devotion, whether in a bourgeois interior or a family chapel. Today, it is a precious testimony to Italian religious art, both an object of faith and a collector's item.
