French manufacture, dated late 19th century – early 20th century, marked on the blade Bertrand Jully & Succ., Amiens, a company known for manufacturing professional tools and blades.
This type of sabre was used in slaughterhouses to cut up carcasses after slaughter. Long forged steel blade with a thick back and a side hook for handling or hanging. Ergonomic turned wooden handle with signs of old use.
