A very fine antique solid wood sculpture depicting a reclining nude woman, handcrafted from a dense, dark exotic wood (probably Asian rosewood or hongmu). The model is nude, lying on her side, in a sensual yet serene posture, with traditional up-dos.

This figure refers to an ancient Chinese tradition: that of “female doctors,” or wooden medical models, used since the Ming period. In a cultural context where physical contact between men and women was limited, these female sculptures allowed female patients to point out an area of ​​the body to a male doctor without revealing their own skin.
Over time, these figures were also produced for their discreet decorative and erotic value, becoming true objects of curiosity.
