Japanese or Chinese calligraphy set in straw marquetry, early 20th century
Antique calligraphy box in the form of a wooden box covered with straw marquetry. The box includes several compartments, two of which are removable, as well as the necessary dividers to hold all the brushes required in the art of Asian calligraphy. Japanese or Chinese origin to be determined. There are three levels of storage containing 17 brushes. Some additional brushes were probably intended to complete the set. Some brushes have a protective tip. Some tips are present separately from the brushes.
The inside of the lid is beautifully painted with an Asian landscape, with the signature on the side.
Clever metal closing system with push-button and rings.
Fragile condition with missing cover, in its original condition with traces of age and wear. The brushes do not appear to have been used, to be confirmed...
This is an authentic vintage object that can style your interior decoration or complete an Asian Art collection.
