Antique Ibeji Era female statuette from the Yoruba culture of Nigeria, dating from the second half of the 20th century.
The Ibeji Era are carved twin figures, representing deceased children, and play a central role in Yoruba spiritual traditions. They are venerated and maintained by families in order to honor and appease the spirit of the deceased twins.
