Painting of a trap between Native Americans and trapper, 1876
Ancient oil painting on canvas depicting a Native American chief (native to North America, Canada), as well as a Native American woman breastfeeding a child in order to exchange blankets with a trapper. On the back, the plate is dated "Canada 1876". There is also a label with some information on the board, unfortunately illegible.
More than a work of art, it is a historical document demonstrating the relationship between indigenous peoples and settlers.
No signature, artist unknown.
In its juice with traces of age and wear, some restorations visible on the reverse.
