18th Century Tibetan Thangka - Painting on Silk - Framed - Rare and Authentic


• Origin: Probably Tibet or Nepal

• Period: 18th century

• Support: Painting on silk

• Thangka alone: ​​42.5 cm x 59 cm

• Frame: 55 cm x 72.5 cm

• Framing: Frame from the Martin Brès framing house (Marseille)

• Condition: Good general condition for its age, some normal signs of wear for a work of this period.


This magnificent thangka represents a Buddhist mandala, a sacred work used in Tibetan and Buddhist spiritual practices.


• Central deity:

• It appears to be a Bodhisattva, perhaps Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), the deity of compassion, represented with several arms holding various symbolic objects.

• This figure expresses benevolence and wisdom, and is often invoked for protection and enlightenment.

• Structure of the Mandala:

• The outer circles represent different levels of spiritual consciousness.

• The other figures around are probably Bodhisattvas or protectors, each with a specific role in Buddhist cosmology.
