Delft faience gourd vase. Early 18th century APK De Grieksche

Delft faience gourd vase. Early 18th century APK De Grieksche

Antique gourd-shaped vase/bottle with sides in Delftware, dating from the early 18th century (circa 1701–1722), decorated in blue and white with oriental-inspired floral and foliage motifs.

The piece is marked under the base with the famous APK monogram, corresponding to the De Grieksche A (The Greek A) factory, run at that time by Pieter Adriaensz. Kocks, one of the most important factories in Delft.

Description:

Vase with a faceted body, bulging belly and elongated neck ending in a bulge known as a "garlic head ."

Intense blue decoration on a white background with floral, foliage, and lambrequin motifs, executed in high fire.

The ochre paste visible under the enamel losses confirms that this is tin-glazed earthenware, not porcelain.

Condition

Antique object with damage, presenting:

Old break in the neck with visible restoration

Enamel loss on the neck, base, and occasionally on the body

Numerous old restorations

The vase remains structurally stable, but is sold as is, for knowledgeable collectors, enthusiasts of objects of study, or decorative use.

The photos are an integral part of the description and accurately show the condition.
