Japanese Nabeshima Porcelain Vase, Late 19th/Early 20th Century

Japanese Nabeshima Blue and White Porcelain Vase with Red Lacing, Late 19th – Early 20th Century

A superb Japanese Nabeshima porcelain vase, a unique and intriguing piece with a traditional blue and white design and bold red lacing.

• Origin: Japan

• Type: Nabeshima porcelain

• Estimated period: Late 19th – Early 20th century

• Height: 42 cm

• Mouth diameter: 6.8 cm

• Base diameter: 15 cm

• Weight: 3.7 kg

• Special feature: Bottomless vase

This vase features a blue and white finish typical of Nabeshima porcelain, with refined floral motifs. The upper part features a distinctive element: red lacing passing through holes drilled in the ceramic.

This detail appears to be an artistic intention rather than a repair, evoking a particular aesthetic influence and a possible ritual or decorative function.

The absence of a base suggests that it may have been designed for a specific purpose, perhaps for a particular installation or architectural use.

Very good overall condition. The glaze is well preserved and the designs remain clear. Some natural signs of wear related to age and use.

Nabeshima porcelain was produced from the Edo period (17th-19th century) and evolved until the 20th century. This vase appears to be a late 19th or early 20th century production, with an atypical design that could be related to an evolution of the style or a special order.

• Secure packaging with materials suitable for fragile objects.

• International shipping possible

This vase is an exceptional decorative object that combines tradition and originality. Its unique design and the use of lacing make it an intriguing piece, perfect for a collection of Japanese ceramics or a wabi-sabi style interior.
