Art Nouveau carved wooden case Black Forest knitting needles
Antique cylindrical case made of carved solid wood, late 19th–early 20th century.
A beautiful example of European folk art, richly decorated with floral motifs in relief (roses, flowers, and foliage) in a style typical of Art Nouveau/Black Forest design.
The object consists of two interlocking parts and was most likely used as a knitting needle case, a refined feminine accessory of the Belle Époque.
Finely carved light wood (probably lime), turned and then decorated by hand.
Beautiful antique patina, clearly visible carving.
