18th Century Fan - Gallant Scenes & Openwork Frame
Authentic 18th-century fan (Louis XV period), a distinctive piece for collectors or curiosity cabinets.
The double-layered paper leaf features rich decorations of hand-colored antique engravings, typical of the gallant imagery of the mid-18th century...
Three distinct cartouches. The central medallion depicts a pastoral and musical scene (“Le Concert Champêtre”), surrounded by two side scenes of romantic conversation and dressing.
The whole is framed by a royal blue background enhanced with foliage and floral motifs gilded with gold leaf.
Superb mount composed of 20 finely worked and openwork bone strands. The plumes and strands are engraved with geometric plant motifs and enhanced, demonstrating the skill of 18th-century tablet makers.
In good condition, with a beautiful patina of age. The colors of the engravings have remained fresh. (Please note: some wear at the folds of the paper, consistent with the age of the object, visible in the photos).
